Patrick
Shawn Taylor
Born in 1967 in Anaheim,
Ca., Patrick has spent most of his life travelling the United
States and abroad. Inspired by the warm tropical colors of Central
America and the historic textures of Italy and New Zealand, his paintings
explore a variety of medium and subject matter. His still lifes
and animals are curious and animated. His landscapes are loose
and warm and his figure work is light and elusive. Patrick
believes the subject, in every painting, is on its own journey of
self discovery, and that with each new work he comes away
with a new knowledge of it and himself.
Patrick began painting at an early age and received recognition and
awards for his work from the moment he started school. He has
studied art in Italy, California, South Carolina and most recently
Georgia where he attended Augusta College and flourished under the
tutelage of such influential artists as Janice Williams and Jim Rosen.
As Preparator for the Morris Museum of Art, Patrick was inspired by
many of the great artists of the South.
Having moved to Atlanta in 1992, Patrick now owns Taylor Kinzel Gallery
with long time friend and fellow artist Mary Kinzel Means. He
currently paints and shows his work at the gallery alongside other
emerging and internationally renowned artists.
