Susan Weaver, a
ceramic sculptor and multi-media artist noted for her organic and
expressive still lifes, received her B.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University studying
clay and glass after a self-taught career in fiber art. Combining
her experience with various media, she often places her sculptures
in hand-forged tables to make versatile functioning art. Her inspiration
comes from summers spent in the Appalachians, family camping trips
exploring the western national parks, and re-creating our world from
the “birds eye” view of small aircraft. She developed her style
by recreating innately familiar shapes, focusing on the textural details,
then placing them juxtaposed in scale. A recipient of numerous
awards and scholarships, she makes her home in the Atlanta area.
